Jared Leto goes back to his film roots, kinda...

American rock band Thirty Seconds To Mars have already announced their upcoming arena tour of the country, but the guys will also be paying the Melbourne International Film Festival a visit while they're out here.

Frontman Jared Leto is of course, no stranger to the big screen - before his TSTM career took off, he was known for his roles in flicks such as Requiem For A Dream, Panic Room and American Psycho. Now, under the pseudonym of Bartholomew Cubbins, Leto has directed a Spinal Tap-esque look into his band's recording of their third album LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS. The feature film is called Artifact and will screen at the festival.

Punk outfit Cosmic Psychos will also appear at the event to promote their documentary Cosmic Psychos: Blokes you can Trust. And the director of The Sunnyboys feature titled The Sunnyboy, Kaye Harrison will also attend to give insight into the film based around the iconic band.

Plenty of local actors will also attend a bunch of premiere screenings at the festival, including Geoffrey Rush, Hugo Weaving, Mia Wasikowska and Rachel Griffiths.
