'Magna Carta' doesn't reign supreme in its first week

The power of Jay-Z hasn't been able to score him the top spot in the ARIA charts this week, with that honour nabbed again by Harrison Craig, winner of The Voice.

The rapper/mogul's hugely hyped Magna Carta... Holy Grail claimed a solid second position despite appearing to be the biggest competition for last week's number one holders Bliss N Eso, whose Circus In The Sky LP dropped to three. It was a strong showing for Jay-Z considering Magna Carta was only made available in Australia on Monday - three days behind his competitors' Friday release date.

In the end, Harrison Craig pipped them all to reclaim the position he earnt just a fortnight ago with More Than A Dream. However, Jay-Z did top the ARIA Digital Albums chart where Craig slipped to 15.

The issues with the physical release of Josh Pyke's new effort The Beginning And The End Of Everything appear like they could have impacted his debut week - the singer-songwriter's latest entered in at seventh spot. Aussie legend and vocalist for The Seekers Judith Durham debuted in the chart with her new collection of songs The Platinum Album at 36. The singer was recently hospitalised with a cerebral haemorrhage and underwent surgery.

Sydney rock outfit Glass Towers entered at 42 with their Halcyon Days set, just ahead of another local Whitley, in at 44 with Even The Stars Are A Mess.

Pink's current tour of Australia is proving to be a chart coup for the sassy singer, with The Truth About Love holding onto fourth position. Her Greatest Hits...So Far!!! pushed up to five from 12 and her 2008 hit album Funhouse re-entered at 28th spot. Her Funhouse Tour DVD also leapt to the top of the Music DVDs chart - in its 196th week. And global folk phenoms Mumford & Sons (Babel) and local country star Lee Kernaghan (Beautiful Noise) both re-entered the chart at 37 and 38 respectively.

On the singles chart front, Avicii predictably held onto the top spot with his Aloe Blacc collab Wake Me Up this week, while One Republic and Counting Stars, in at two, pushed Robin Thicke and his Blurred Lines featuring T.I. & Pharrell to third.

Vance Joy's Riptide continues to move up the chart - jumping from 24 to 17, while New Zealand artist Lorde's rise in the music world kept pace, with her The Love Club EP moving up from 26 to 14 in the space of seven days. She also re-entered the chart with the track Tennis Court - in at 36.

Other debuts singleswise included Will.i.am and Miley Cyrus' new song Fall Down (29), Do I Wanna Know (37) from the Arctic Monkeys and Zedd featuring Foxes' anthem Clarity (38).

In the ARIA Club Charts, Will Sparks - the man just voted the #2 DJ in Australia (in the ITM Awards) - found his remix of Timmy Trumpet & Chardy's Melbournia hit holding the top position for a second week.
