Tame Impala have taken home Song Of The Year and Sia Furler Songwriter Of The Year at this year's APRA Awards, which were held in Melbourne tonight.

Kevin Parker, the driving force of Tame Impala, had two bites at the Song Of The Year cherry beat the likes of Courtney Barnett, Mia Dyson and Guy Sebastian in the peer-voted competition with Feels Like We Only Go Backwards.

The APRA Board Of Writer and Publisher Directors deemed Sia, who is one of Australia's most prolific pop writers of the past 12 months, Songwriter Of The Year. Her writing credits for the likes of Rihanna, David Guetta, Flo Rida, Hilltop Hoods and Christina Aguilera have been hits around the world and last year she was also identified as one of the industry's most powerful people when she was ranked 20 in the inaugural AMID Power 50. She also won Urban Work Of The Year with Hilltop Hoods for I Love It.

Other winners included Matthew Colwell – aka 360 – and collaborator Kaelyn Behr – aka Styalz Fuego – were named Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year, while Timomatic and co-writers Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci won two awards for Most Played Australia Work and Pop Work Of The Year with Set It Off. The Rubens' My Gun won Rock Work Of The Year, Aden Forte and Joshua Soon (together they're Feenixpawl), Ivan Gough and Georgi Kay won Dance Work Of The Year with In My Mind and The McClymonts, Frank Myers and Lindsay Rimes won Country Work Of The Year with Piece Of Me.
