Details are scant, but there are shows in the works.

Lovers of kiwi indie-rock music both old and new will be chuffed to hear that the masterful David Saunders – he of kiwi indie 90s mainstays The 3Ds – has teamed up with young Auckland-based band Street Chant for a series of shows.

Details are scant at present, with the young band posting a brief announcement of the news on their Facebook this morning.

“Just had our first practice with David Saunders, we're being his band for some shows & yes we are doing some 3D's songs & yes we are freaking out,” they said.

The 3Ds have enjoyed something of a resurgence in the past few years, with the band reforming for some dates in 2009 and 2010 – including performances at the Merge Records 20th anniversary festival and the Pavement curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival.

Street Chant are one of a number of great new indie rock bands who have emerged from across the ditch in the past few years. Their most recent single Sink is pretty damn great.

We've spoken with the Street Chant's label Arch Hill who assure us there is more information coming soon.
