Telecommunications giant backs its first stadium tour

More Bon Jovi More Bon Jovi

The Australian leg of Bon Jovi's international tour, which has been common knowledge for some time, has been officially announced with Telstra jumping on board as a presenting partner to leverage their 'Thanks' ticket program.

Announced earlier this month, Telstra have been a start-up partner of new premium ticket retailer BangTango who they will use to provide exclusive ticket opportunities to their existing customer base as part of the loyalty program. In the case of Bon Jovi, those tickets include meet-and-greets, 'be a roadie for a day', signed merchandise and 48-hour pre-sale access.

Launched with an initiative for British singer Olly Murs, this is the first stadium tour that Telstra has thrown its weight behind.

Today the tour's promoter Paul Dainty described Telstra's entry into live music partnerships as “powerful”.

Telstra's Director of One to One Marketing, Nick Adams, offered, “Our research indicates that our customers rate live music among their highest categories of personal interest, so providing access to sought after concert tickets before they go on sale is a fantastic way to reward them for their loyalty.”

He added, “Building a reward program that gives our customers unique access to the types of entertainment they value is vital. We began with movies, we are now well underway with music.”

Last year Telstra provided the platform for music streaming service Mog, which is likely to be branded Daisy later this year after it was bought by Dr Dre's Beats company last year.

Recently a Telstra spokesperson told theMusic.com.au that they will continue to offer Mog.

“We will continue our partnership with Beats by Dre and provide the Mog service to our customers,” they said. “The launch of Thanks Music means we now have three great music assets in Mog, Telstra Road to Discovery and Thanks Music. We are working to combine all three to deliver to our customers some great music offers and rewards.”

Telstra is believed to have a six-month exclusivity deal with BangTango for Thanks Music.
