Passenger shoots to number one with Let Her Go

More Northlane More Northlane

Justin Timberlake's new album and a storming Passenger have held out Sydney hardcore outfit Northlane from the top spot of the ARIA Albums Chart this week.

Timberlake's album The 20/20 Experience enjoys its second week at the top while English singer/songwriter Passenger bulleted to its highest point at two with All The Little Lights. His single Let Her Go reached the top spot of the ARIA Singles Chart this week and is currently enjoying a massive surge around the world.

Northlane, who had given the record a last minute push to increase their chances at the top spot, arrived in a very admirable third. Last year they managed 85 with Discoveries.

The band told followers, “This is the most incredible thing we could have imagined when we wrote this record. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Best feeling of our lives.”

Passenger's single - which has driven the album's push - has topped charts in Germany, Ireland, Austria, Belgium and Sweden and was touted as a possible number one last week. It had to knock-off Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, but did so with a 61 percent sales jump.

Other debuts in the Album Chart came from The Strokes, who managed seven with Comedown Machine, and locals British India who scored their third consecutive top ten with Controller. Brisbane's Emma Louise rounded out a strong week for the locals with her debut album Vs Head Vs Heart landing at 12.

Louise's only other chart entry was in February 2012 when her EP Full Hearts And Empty Rooms reached 90.

Internationals Eric Clapton's Old Sock debuted at 22 and Lil Wayne's I Am Not A Human Being II at 43.
