Impact on live music unclear

Sydney's Lansdowne Hotel has caught fire this morning, with a – reportedly intentional – blaze breaking out on the third floor this morning.

Pub staff and occupants of the third floor apartments were evacuated at about 7.45am this morning and the resulting operation to extinguish the fire caused traffic chaos around Broadway, where the pub is located. Police and fire services have reported that no injuries were sustained.

The venue's stage is on the ground floor and it is unclear what structural damage was caused by the fire what that will mean for its overall operations. A representative for the venue has not yet responded to theMusic.com.au's request for comment.

Resident Sabrina Valice told The Daily Telegraph, that she believed the fire was started after a piece of cardboard was deliberately lit.

The pub's manager Michelle Gonzales told the ABC, “Somebody said that an ex-girlfriend had lit up a box on a balcony maybe or just outside one of the rooms. They've been having a lot of domestic fights lately.”
