The arts & music event lends a much-needed hand to those affected by the blazes.

Falls Music & Arts Festival today announced they would assist those affected by the bush fires that have devastated Tasmania.

The festival, which just finished up its 2012/13 tour, has donated $10,000 to the Red Cross for the appeal. They also announced they will be holding further fundraising efforts across the coming weeks, so watch this space.

Tasmania has been hit hardest by the heatwaves and bushfires that have taken over the country these past few weeks. According to Sky News Australia, 128 homes have been lost across the Tasman Penninsula at present, with around 80,000 hectares of land being covered by the fires. No deaths have been confirmed at this stage, with nearly all missing persons accounted for.

Marion Bay, home to Tasmania's leg of Falls, has remained unscathed unlike some of its neighbouring suburbs. However they did suffer a scare, with management being evacuated from the site on Thursday 3 January. They have since returned and the location has been deemed a safe-zone and setup as a refuge for some affected by the damage.
