Tame Impala In Guardian Readers Top Ten Of 2012

Perth's psychedelic superstars Tame Impala have landed themselves in another impressive international poll of 2012.

In the year-end readers' poll of respected UK daily The Guardian, the band's Lonerism has been voted the second best album of the year. US break out R&B star Frank Ocean topped the poll with his channel ORANGE set.

Tame Impala also rated twice in the reader-voted Top Ten Tracks Of 2012, with Feels Like We Only Go Backwards at five and Elephant at eight. Ocean's Pyramids was number one; Blur's Under The Westway was two; Grimes' Genesis was three; Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe was four; The Enid's The One And The Many was six; Grimes' Oblivion was seven.

Lonerism was ranked sixth best album of the year in Guardian's critics top ten list of 2012. The album has been regularly namechecked in international end-of-year round ups: NME's #1 album of the year;  Filter's #1 staff pick of the year; Loud And Quiet's #1 album of the year; The Sunday Times' rock critic's #1 album of 2012; #11 top new album of 2012 in Uncut; Stereogum's #11 album of the year; #12 in Mojo; #13 in Clash; #21 in the BBC Music end of year list; #26 in Spin.

The album also topped the Street Press Austalia 2012 Writers' Poll as well as being named our Album Of The Year. Lonerism has also topped other local 2012 lists: #1 on triple j's poll; #1 on FasterLouder; #2 on Mess + Noise, #3 in Hit (News Ltd's weekly music supplement) and #3 in The Music Network.
