Somebody That I Used To Know scores two nominations, while Aussie EDM makes a showing.

More Gotye More Gotye

The nominees for the 2013 Grammy Awards have been announced this afternoon and Australian superstar, and multiple ARIA Award winner, Gotye has scored himself a total of three nominations after the raging success of his single Somebody That I Used To Know.

Gotye is nominated in the masssive Record Of The Year category alongside Taylor Swift (We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together), Frank Ocean (Thinkin Bout You), The Black Keys (Lonely Boy), Kelly Clarkson (Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)) and fun. featuring Janelle Monáe (We Are Young).

By our calculations Gotye is the first Australian to be nominated for this award since the Bee Gees scored a nod for Stayin' Alive in 1979. The last Australian to actually win the award was Olivia Newton-John for her I Honestly Love You smash in 1975.

As well as that big award, he is up against Florence & The Machine (Shake It Out), Fun. Featuring Janelle Monáe (We Are Young), LMFAO (Sexy And I Know It) and Maroon 5 & Wiz Khalifa (Payphone) in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.

It wasn't just the single that got some love today, his Making Mirrors album has been nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, seeing him shape up to Fiona Apple's The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, Björk's Biophilia, M83's Hurry Up, We're Dreaming and Tom Waits' Bad As Me.

But it wasn't just Gotye that did Australia proud at this afternoon's nominations, Tommy Trash's remix of Deadmau5's The Veldt (featuring Chris James) is up for the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. In that same category is Axwell's remix of Aussies Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl featuring Georgi Kay's huge track In My Mind, which picked up an ARIA last week.

The awards are to be held on Sunday 10 February at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
