Comedy rock band score money from APRA

More The Beards More The Beards

Comedy-rock outfit The Beards have been awarded the $5,000 Emily Burrows Award, with the 12th edition of the award presented at Adelaide's Grace Emily Hotel last night.

The APRA-sponsored award is named after former ARPA membership representative and compliance officer Burrows, and aims to aid the professional development of original acts in South Australia.

The Beards, who have been keeping a tour diary for theMusic.com.au, have enjoyed a strong rise in popularity in recent years, with the ARIA and APRA Award nominated outfit breaking out from a cult following in their South Australian hometown.

Previous winners of the Emily Burrows award include Hilltop Hoods (2002) and Mere Theory (2006).
