He had already signalled that he would be in Australia in March and April of next year when he was announced for the Byron Bay Bluesfest, but now we can announce that UK folk-soul sensation Michael Kiwanuka will play a series of shows while in the country at Easter time, hitting churches along the east coast as a part of the Heavenly Sounds tour.

If you saw him at Splendour this yearor one of the intimate sideshows he performed while here for that festival, you'll welcome the fact that the artist has another chance to show off his gorgeous brand of new folk that has won the hearts of so many people in his native Great Britain. It was a support slot with Adele that shot him into the spotlight, but the quality of his music, his performance and that of his band ought to speak far louder than any other association.

His debut record Home Again dropped in January and rocketed into the number four spot on the UK Album Charts and sold quite handsomely in other European territories and deservedly so. It's such a gorgeously considered, beautifully layered and diverse soul record that showcases Kiwanuka's rich, warm voice and features some incredible musical arrangements.

When in Australia, Kiwanuka will be joined by fellow young British singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich, who turned heads with his debut album of last year, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm.
