Tour dates confirmed

Heavy metal legends Black Sabbath have this evening announced that they will tour Australia next year, which will be their first Australian shows since 1974.

Original members Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi will be brought out by promoters Live Nation for shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth across April and May.

Credited by some as the creators of modern heavy metal, the English band released their debut record in 1970 which was followed up by Paranoid, the album that put them in the history books. Since then they've sold over 70 million albums worldwide and Osbourne has become a global celebrity. They're currently working on their first studio album in 33 years, which is being produced by Rick Rubin. The album is scheduled for release in April next year – just in time for the Australian return.

Dates are as follows:

Thursday 25 April – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Saturday 27 April – Allphones Arena, Sydney
Wednesday 1 May – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Saturday 4 May – Perth Arena

With the promoter pre-sales available 9am Friday 2 November, general public tickets go on sale Thursday 8 November.
