Christopher Owens spins the tales of love, longing, friendship and adventure on Lysandre.

More Christopher Owens More Christopher Owens

Christopher Owens, former frontman of revered San Franciscan indie-pop group Girls, has announced the Australian release of his first solo album Lysandre on Friday 18 February through Liberator/PIAS/Turnstile.

Since he announced he'd be leaving the band on twitter in July, there hasn't been any word on what his future musical plans would be, so today's announcement is an exciting one for fans of this great songwriter. It once again sees him with a full band in town, with flute, saxohphone, keys and lush backing vocals filling the sound out along with the standard drums, guitar and bass.

The record was written almost in one hit, with Owens ruminating on the time just after he had made his first record with Girls, specifically his journey from San Francisco to New York and a trip to the French Riviera in which he fell in love with the woman for whom he named this record. The record follows a linear narrative, which Owens says is “a coming of age story, a road trip story, a love story.”

Listen to Here We Go, the second track from the album.
