Best Coast Sideshows Announced

Two sideshows for Best Coast's third Aussie summer.

More Best Coast More Best Coast

The music of Best Coast suits summer oh so well, it's becoming a bit of a cliché to say that, but it's just so true. It's sunny, but not always happy; it's lazy, but also sweet and sometimes chirpy. The music is bred from the environment in which they exist, California, and the similarities between that part of America and Australia can't be understated.

So it makes sense that Best Coast return to Australia for the third summer in a row in 2012/13 and as well as playing the Falls and Southbound festivals, they drop by Melbourne and Sydney for two sideshows while they are here.

The band, who were typified as decidedly lo-fi after their Crazy For You debut, stepped things up a notch on their sophomore LP The Only Place, enlisting the help of the incomparable Jon Brion to make things sound nice and clean. The songs are a little sweeter, though they deal with completely new issues than on the debut, and, as much as we hate to say it, it sees Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno maturing.

The band play the following shows early in the New Year:
