Sydney band The Preatures have signed to Mercury Records for a five album deal, theMusic.com.au can reveal, the news coming shortly after the band changed their name from The Preachers.

Managed by Winterman & Goldstein's Andy Cassell (Deep Sea Arcade), last year the band went to Los Angeles to record their second EP, Shaking Hands.

That EP, which will be released Thursday 18 October, is in addition to nthe five albums the band have signed on for. It feature current triple j single Take A Card.

The band will be performing at BIGSOUND before supporting Deep Sea Arcade on their national November tour.
