Hilltop Hoods Top Local Seller In 2012; The Voice Falls From Grace

We knew that the race to the top of the ARIA Albums Chart was going to be tight, but few would have bet against Karise Eden despite releasing her album, My Journey, late and missing out on the mid-week report. The Voice winner overcame new releases from; Linkin Park, Living Things at two; Maroon 5, Overexposed at four; and The Smashing Pumpkins, Oceania at eight.

While Eden takes the top spot back for the locals, Keith Urban remains at three with The Story So Far and Missy Higgins at seven with The Ol' Razzle Dazzle.

Other debuts included French metal titans Gojira at 47 with L'Enfant Sauvage, Paloma Faith at 49 with Fall To Grace, Kenny Chesney at 34 with Welcome To The Fishbowl , Moshi Monsters at 31 with Music Rox! and Fiona Apple with The Idler Wheel... at 23.

In the digital charts it was new debuts in the top three positions with Karise Eden at one, Linkin Park at two and Maroon 5 at three. Nicki Minaj had a huge online boost as well, jumping from 33 to five with Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

The Voice's reign at the top of the ARIA Singles Charts has been a brief one, with most of the tracks falling out of the top 50 this week - there were a huge 12 re-entries this week. Flo Rida's Whistle takes the top spot back, while Chris Brown's Don't Wake Me Up is at its highest point at two and Maroon 5's Payphone.

Also released this week at the Mid-Year ARIA Charts, of the top five albums and singles to date this year. Dominated by international acts, Hilltop Hoods and Sia fly the local flag.
