A small crowd enjoyed a very intimate two hour set early this morning.

More Prince More Prince

Rumours about an intimate Prince show happening in Melbourne after one of his Rod Laver Arena performances have been rampant since the eccentric pop star landed in the country and last night the city got their wish, not that many people seemed to know about it.

Prince and the NPG took to the cosy Bennett's Lane Jazz Club in the Melbourne CBD, the same club he played after an arena show in 2003, treating a tiny crowd to a selection of his own material as well as plenty of funk classics. Entry to the show was $200 on the door and for that, people were treated to around two hours

The news was once again leaked by DJ Rashida, but this time she informed people at 1.43am, just minutes before Prince took the stage.

This morning the venue seem rather pleased with the way things went down, stating on their website:

“THIS WAS LAST NIGHT FROM 1:30am - THIS GIG HAS HAPPENED... IT WAS AWESOME!!!!”

The show comes after a Sydney party that featured guest appearances from Flava Flav and Seal, two Brisbane performances at two different venues and a cancelled Melbourne show.

Prince has one final Australian show at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday night and another after party has been hotly tipped.
