Laura Jaen Grace makes her "debut" with the punk rockers.

More Against Me! More Against Me!

Punk rock group Against Me! have played their first live show since vocalist Tommy Gabel came out as transgender early this month, with a support set for The Cult in San Diego.

As they beltered through six new songs, including Transgender Dysphoria Blues, Laura Jane Grace delivered her "trademark, throat-shredding screams".

"I was worried that some people expected me to come out looking like Little Bo Peep or something," Grace told Rolling Stone after the show. But she needn't have been preoccupied as the RS review reveals:

When Grace belted out the lines to "The Ocean," a revealing track from the band's 2007 album New Wave – "If I could have chosen / I would have been born a woman" – fans broke into cheers and applause.
