Young Unknown And Children Collide Beat Gotye In Music Video Comp

A little known 21-year-old musician has risen to the top of the Australian music video ranks beating out Kate Miller-Heidke and Alpine in this year's Sound Kilda competition.

The winners of the SoundKilda music video competition for this year have been announced with a relatively unknown 21-year-old Melbourne guitarist who goes by the name of Roadgeek and fellow Melbourne rockers Children Collide sharing the top honour of Best Music Video for 2012.

Part of the St Kilda Film Festival, Sound Kilda features five awards that are offered to the best overall video, as well as Best Independent Video, Best Animation as well as an audience award. This year the top honour was shared between Children Collide for their lauded Loveless clip and Melbourne's Michael Shanks, who goes by the name of Roadgeek, whose On The Borderline video also earned him the Best Independent Music Video Award.

On The Borderlinewas directed and produced by Michael Shanks and Loveless  directed by David Michód and produced by Michael Cody.

The finalists for the competition included Holidays by Miami Horror, directed by Krozm; Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye feat Kimbra, directed by Natasha Pincus; Even Though I'm A Woman by Seeker Lover Keeper, directed by Natalie van den Dungen; Science Of The Heart by Falloe, directed by Natasha Pincus, The Boat Song by Set Sail, directed by Darcy Prendergast; Blinding Light by West End Boys, directed by Matt Cerwen; W.O.W by Architecture In Helsinki, directed by Krozm; Against The Grain by Hudson, directed by Jonathan Chong; Don't You Wanna Sing Forever by The Brow Horn Orchestra, directed by Noah Norton and Wendi Graham; Hands by Alpine, directed by Luci Schroder; Rippled by All India Radio directed by Darcy Prendergrast; The Tiger Inside Will Eat The Child by Kate Miller-Heidke, directed by Lucy Dyson and Joseph Jensen; and Are You Ready Yet by Clare Bowditch & Gotye, directed by Kess Broekman-Dattner.
