The Late Hunter Inducted Into WAM Hall Of Fame

The peak West Australian music body WAM has announced it three inductees into the music WAM Hall Of Fame this year, as part of the upcoming WAMi Festival. The late hip hop icon Hunter, former WAM CEO Paul Bodlovich and comedy muso Tim Minchin will receive the honour this year.

Robert Hunter died October last year after a long battle with cancer, having been an instrumental part of the hip hop scene not only in the west, but in a national sense. He was part of the Syllabolix Crew that also featured Drapht, Layla and Dazastah, amongst others, and made his name as a battle MC.

Former CEO of WAM Paul Bodlovich held that position for almost ten years, from 2002 to 2011. He is credited with getting the association to where it is today, including developing relationships with SXSW and CMW, which have opened international pathways for WA musicians. He is currently the CEO of WA's Film And Television Institute.

And Tim Minchin, the now London-based, comedian has become an international name, recently winning seven Matilda Awards for his work on Matilda: The Musical, which he wrote the music and lyrics for. Originally from Perth, he first found success in Melbourne before moving to the UK.

The Hall Of Fame induction night will take place Friday 25 May at The Charles Hotel. Matt Taylor, Dom Mariani, Paul McCarthy and Annie McNeil will perform.
