Miller-Heidke's Flight To Top Halted By One Direction

UK boy band One Direction last week stopped Cold Chisel from debuting at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and this week stood in the way of Kate Miller-Heidke's Nightflight debuting in top position.

Miller-Heidke's third album was set to be her first number one, having peaked at number two with her Curiouser album in 2008 and her first album Little Eve reaching number 11 in 2007.

With One Direction staying at number one with Up All Night, Chisel slip to number three with their No Plans set - which has been certified gold-selling status.

Miller-Heidke's album was the week's highest debut in Australia, with US band Train closest behind, entering at 14 with California 37.

The only other locals to debut in the top 50 this week were a New Zealander we claim as our own and a former Sri Lankan artist: NZ's Gin Wigmore came in at 29 with Gravel And Wine while ex-Dark Tan member Alston entered at 42 with Don't Funk With Me.

Elsewhere in the album listings, the influence of Channel 9's singing contest hit The Voice could be felt with albums by the show's mentors charting strongly: Keith Urban's Greatest Hits was back at 21, Seal's Hits set debuted at 24, Delta Goodrem's Innocent Eyes entered the digital sales chart at 31 while Joel Madden's Good Charlotte album Cardiology was just behind at 40.

Goodrem also debuted at number two on the ARIA Singles Chart with new single Sitting On Top Of The World. The singles chart was also infiltrated by covers from The Voice contestants: Racael Leahcar's La Vie En Rose (18) and Karise Eden's It's A Man's World (41).
