Exclusive: Popfrenzy Sign On With Cooperative Music

The label is gearing up for the release of the new Best Coast record.

Sydney-based indie label Popfrenzy has joined label group Cooperative Music, theMusic.com.au can reveal. Under Co-Op's umbrella they'll join other labels such as Spunk, DFA, Kitsune, V2 and more. As part of the new deal, Universal will now handle the label's distribution.

Formed in 2003, Popfrenzy has releases albums by Gossip, Best Coast, The Drums, Neon India, kyü, Songs and Seekae (with Rice As Nice).

Currently, they are looking to the release of Best Coast's second album, The Only Place, Friday 18 May.

Today founder Chris Wu said that the label are "really excited about this new relationship with Cooperative Music, it represents an exciting array of new possibilities, both locally and internationally. The timing of this deal couldn't be better with the impending second album from Best Coast - I think this is set to be the label's most successful release yet."

Popfrenzy also has a touring arm that has worked with Deerhunter, Roky Erickson, Metronomy and Blonde Redhead amongst others.
