The Perth songstress is leading up to the release of her debut album 'Something Of Myself'.

More Belle Harvey More Belle Harvey

WA Americana/alt-country singer-songwriter Belle Harvey is all set to release her debut studio full-length, Something Of Myself, next month, preceding its arrival with bluesy new number Crescent City.

The sly, horn-dappled track actually started life on the bass guitar before evolving into the fleshed-out piece you can hear today. The song takes its title from a nickname for New Orleans, an influence reflected not just in its words but in the "slinky, sexy vibe" with which Harvey has imbued it.

"[Guitarist] Bill Chambers told me stories of New Orleans and how amazing it is, yet how precarious it can be at night," she said in a statement. "Best to stay indoors and leave the night to the locals!

"I thought the music really suited the whole dangerous and exciting vibes of the stories he told; it was a fun song to create."

In its final form, Crescent City features the talents of not just Harvey and Chambers, but baritone guitarist Michael Muchow, backing vocalist Rose Parker, trumpeter Shannon Puig, keyboardist Gerard Masters, bassist Jeff McCormack and drummer Paul Novosel. It was recorded by Jeff McCormack at the Music Cellar, with Chambers handling mastering and production.

Harvey will hit the road for a string of shows around her home state in October, with a national tour planned for early 2018.

Crescent City is out tomorrow, while Belle Harvey's Something Of Myself LP will land on Friday 22 September.
