SINGLE PREMIERE: Belove - Hey Girl

Melbourne electro-soul/R&B trio Belove release their ultra-smooth new single, Hey Girl, today, and theMusic.com.au is stoked to be premiering the track for the band today.

The super-chill tune arrives hot on the heels of a couple of other recent successes, with Belove securing a label and management deal with R.E.A.L Music, as well as distribution through Warner Music Australia. The song's velvet-like aesthetic and central refrain belie its true nature as a reflection on "complacency and comfort … that has fostered feelings of discontent".

Hey Girl is the first release for Belove — individually, vocalist/guitarist Nick Hermanus, keyboardist/vocalist Jeremy Bennett and drummer Daniel Berry — in about a year, and provides a taste of what to expect from their upcoming five-track EP. The song will be complemented in the near future by a music video created in collaboration with respected filmmaker Hoodwolf Harris (Ivan Ooze, Dylan Joel and more) before the EP's arrival later in 2017.

If you're not in the mood to wait, Belove are taking their deep grooves and diverse influences out for a spin at Melbourne's Ding Dong Lounge on Friday 6 May, supporting Drums Of War on their Australian tour. No need to fret if you miss that show — the band will also be announcing a single launch at home in the near future.
