EP PREMIERE: Batz - Night Terrors

Emergent Melburnian five-piece Batz are ramping up for the arrival of their debut EP, Night Terrors, and The Music is stoked to have first-listen privileges on the four-track work ahead of its release.

The fuzz-lovin', hard-rockin' band may have only come together in early 2015 but, as is obvious from the songs contained on Night Terrors, this is no group of amateurs fresh to the playing field; indeed, three-fifths of their line-up (Joshua Aubry, Jakob Kagan and Jim Stirton) are part of stalwart rock'n'rollers The Cherry Dolls, with the vocals of Christina Aubry and keyboard work of Dali Platt rounding out the wider package.

Drawing on the mixing talents of Alexander Markwell (The Delta Riggs) in addition to their own DIY efforts, the band have crafted a truly collaborative first release together, with all five members lending their distinct talents and voices to the overall result.

"Every song contains little bits and pieces of all members of Batz individually," Christina said in a statement. "We find it works best to include everyone in the creative process."

As far as the EP is concerned, that process started for Batz earlier this year, when they hit the studio to lay down the four tracks that would ultimately form Night Terrors' track list. 

The quintet only recently branched out of their home town to play their first-ever show outside Melbourne at the recent Maroochy Music & Visual Arts Festival up in Queensland, and that momentum is only going to pick up from here, with the outfit nabbing finalist honours for the upcoming Melbourne Music Bank competition, as spearheaded by the Bank Of Melbourne. There are also plans to undertake their inaugural headline sojourn along the east coast before the year's out.
