More Justin Townes Earle More Justin Townes Earle

Nobody could accuse US troubadour Justin Townes Earle of resting on his laurels — barely four months have passed since the release of his acclaimed fifth studio full-length, Single Mothers, and here we sit, gleefully holding an exclusive stream of yet another album's worth of fresh goods: the eagerly awaited Absent Fathers.

Originally planned as a dual release alongside Single Mothers, and recorded at the same time, Absent Fathers — like its predecessor — developed so separate an identity from its counterpart during its gestation that Earle had no choice but to release the pair as distinct entities. This sixth studio album boasts 10 tracks of JTE wonderment, plus Aussie and Kiwi fans are given a little extra treat in the form of an acoustic cover of Fleetwood Mac's Dreams on the antipodean versions.

Absent Fathers is set for release this Friday, 16 January, and comes only a few months after Earle's most recent trip Down Under, during which he and his lauded backing band — who helped him bring the Single Mothers/Absent Fathers duoumvirate together — lit up the inaugural Out On The Weekend Americana festival in Melbourne.

The album will be available in CD, limited-edition LP (500 copies, one-time deal, folks) and digital-download formats, all of which include the Fleetwood Mac cover, recorded locally at Sydney's very own FBi Radio. If you dig the stream, pre-orders are just a click of the mouse away.
