"That stunning voice just drew us right into his stories about lost love, and he into our hearts, this being what held the crowd’s attention for the show."

More Andy Bull More Andy Bull

Cub Sport brought their synthed-up indie-pop all the way down from Brisbane to get the early comers dancing this Friday evening.

The crowd was digging the slick, energetic tunes filled with Nelson’s divine falsetto and tropical beats. Unfortunately the synths were overtaking the mix, but that didn't tarnish the four-piece’s overall cohesiveness and ability to pump out gems like sunny Paradise and groovy Told You So.  A surprising, but sweet, addition to their set was a Beyoncé medley that included Drunk In Love, Flawless and Crazy In Love, which just oozed coolness.

Andy Bull appeared onstage sitting behind his keyboard to open with Just One Expression, Just One Line, easing us into his set with this lyric light number that slowly swelled into a synth masterpiece.

It has to be said that, for a man who writes such heart-aching songs, Bull has quite a cheerful onstage persona, bantering with the crowd throughout his set. Despite showing us he was more than his heartbreak, that stunning voice just drew us right into his stories about lost love, and he into our hearts, this being what held the crowd’s attention for the show.

Bull and his talented band whipped out soaring Baby I Am Nobody Now and brooding, piano-laden Nothing Is Wrong mid-set, much to the crowd’s delight, before hashing out an oldie in the form of jaunty, jangly Dog. The crowd was waiting for classic Keep On Running and Bull didn't disappoint, closing his seeming short set with the tenacious number, appeasing the sea of approval.

No encore was called for, and no encore was given; although the set seemed short, Bull and his talented band left the sold-out crowd feeling content with their evening’s choice.
