"Mount Kimbie's new path seems to have taken them further away from the idiosyncrasies and quirkiness that made them stand out in the first place."

More Mount Kimbie More Mount Kimbie

Mount Kimbie's third LP is a self-proclaimed product of three years of intense creative development.

Taking further steps toward a live band sound may not be playing their best hand though, as frequent pedestrian drumming plods along under a fog of shoegaze bleariness, alongside mediocre returns from a handful of vocalists. Surprisingly, it's the tracks that sound like spontaneous jams, such as Audition, that sound the freshest. Mount Kimbie's new path seems to have taken them further away from the idiosyncrasies and quirkiness that made them stand out in the first place.
