"Not since The Smiths has anyone turned despondent, morose lyrics into jangly indie-disco floor fillers."

More Alvvays More Alvvays

If, like The Wombats, you've ever felt an uncontrollable urge to dance to Joy Division, then Alvvays may be your new favourite band.

Not since The Smiths has anyone turned despondent, morose lyrics into jangly indie-disco floor fillers as perky as In Undertow or Plimsoll Punks. Lush dream-pop glider Dreams Tonite aside, Antisocialites is packed with zippy odes to millennial gloom a la The Beatles' Help! There's nothing quite as knock out as their 2014 anthem Archie, Marry Me, and the second half wilts a little, but misery like this has rarely sounded so joyful.
