"Perennially underrated."

More Ron Sexsmith More Ron Sexsmith

"If your dreams are bigger than your worries you never have to worry about your dreams," sings Ron Sexsmith on Dreams Are Bigger, just one of many fine examples of his impeccable songwriting craft on The Last Rider.

This time he's recorded with his live band and it makes a difference. There's a liveliness and communal spirit to the sound of the record as Sexsmith swings through The Beatles-esque melodies, folk elements and power-pop hooks. As usual he hits serious heart-and-soul topics, coating them in sweet lyrical turns that threaten to lightly dance by if attention isn't given to the detail. Perennially underrated yet nearly always on point, Sexsmith adds another gem to his catalogue with The Last Rider.
