"Not a single dud production in sight. A surprising triumph."

More Wiley More Wiley

It's a commonly repeated myth that Wiley has never recaptured the quality of his original grime-pioneer heyday.

His larger-than-life persona has meant that he's rarely managed to deliver the true menace of his early solo recordings, however, Godfather proves he's not lost a single step. A return-to-roots that proves surprisingly vital, Godfather welds the savvy hook-craft of the MC/producer's later years to the blistering intensity of his early days for what could be his best-ever solo work. At 17 tracks, it's an undeniable slog — but there's also not a single dud production in sight. A surprising triumph.
