Album Review: Loose Tooth - Saturn Returns

Loose Tooth exist somewhere on the sliding spectrum between the dark doo-wop slink of September Girls and more straight-up, garage-rock swagger.

Bites Will Bleed is a plodding-yet-plaintive scuzz roll immediately juxtaposed by the laconic Evan Dando blase of Sherry. Everything Changes is a garage-rock pastiche with a cracked edge; Will You takes a rougher edge still, dragging you down a pub-rock Hole. Heat Waves resonates with a sinuous, psych-rock tone; Oooh… a Katy Goodman-esque whimsy; History Aside a wistful Breeders drawl. This EP is a solid blueprint of a band taking flight.
