"Frontman Dave Mustaine's knack of writing memorable riffs and lasting melodies (which has deserted him of late) seems to be back."

More Megadeth More Megadeth

Following the pedestrian TH1RT3EN and the wildly uneven Super Collider, Dystopia is a relatively solid entry in the venerable thrashers' discography.

Frontman Dave Mustaine's knack for writing memorable riffs and lasting melodies (which has deserted him of late) seems to be back, with the likes of the searingly melodic title track and the ominous Death From Within making their mark felt quickly. What Dystopia does lack however is the out and out thrashers that made even newer Megadeth offerings like Endgame so memorable. Why Mustaine doesn't take the shackles off remains puzzling. That said, Dystopia is a definite step in the right direction — questionable right-wing rants and all.
