Album Review: Ty Dolla $ign - Free TC

"Epic" is a word that has been overused, and misused, to the point of near meaninglessness. 

If it can still mean ambitious, evocative and faintly terrifying, then it defines Free TC — Ty Dolla $ign's debut album — neatly. LA, Saved and Blasé are each stunning. Bring It Out Of Me is how the best dance music sounds today. Guard Down is how the best soul music should sound tomorrow. The guest list here is dizzying. Kanye's mentoring never shines as brightly as it does when we hear the performances Ty elicits from his guests. But the real achievement is how Free TC challenges existing genres, and officially introduces a singular talent.
