"We finally have the album Minaj promised us five years ago."

More Nicki Minaj More Nicki Minaj

And so, we finally have the album Minaj promised us five years ago.

It’s been some wait, punctuated by the desperately disappointing debut, Pink Friday, and its clumsy successor, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

Feeling Myself is a tour de force; Beyoncé’s all breathy, steamy subtlety as Minaj runs riot. Oral sex has never been handled as deftly in pop music as in Get On Your Knees. Four Door Aventador is a lesson in atmospherics. Only The Night Is Still Young, a fairly cynical, completely understandable Starships follow up, is a let-down. The rest is exceptional.
