Album Review: J Mascis - Tied To A Star

This is pure J Mascis.

More J Mascis More J Mascis

The slinger of one of the wailingest guitars of the ‘90s straps on the acoustic to go it alone and get a little tender on Tied To A Star. But even with the unplugged sounds, this is still pure J Mascis.

His cracking voice has always been so perfectly suited to a more stripped back, vulnerable sound. At times, the only thing differentiating the songs of Tied To A Star from the rockers on a Dinosaur Jr album is an amp and distortion pedal. And that lack of amp and distortion brings a whole new dimension to Mascis and gives us more reasons to love what he does.
