A punchy yet thoughtful record

More Briggs More Briggs

Australian hip hop has evolved over the past 20 years to the point that it’s diversifying and sending itself in different directions at the same time. Briggs, the self-made king of Shepparton, is not distracted by shiny production or catchy choruses with SHEPLIFE; instead he’s taken up the mantle of young-kid-done-right-by-lowering-his-eyes-and-focusing-on-what-matters-to-him.

By honing in on his hometown for inspiration, Briggs delivers a punchy yet thoughtful record, with plenty of attitude (see My People for example) but also with a vision that reflects the turbulent rural upbringing many young Australians experience.
