More Ben Salter More Ben Salter

When the WA-born, London-based Snowman parted ways last year, two members moved to Iceland while another stayed in Cambridge. Joe McKee moved back to Australia with a swag of songs inspired by his experience living abroad. These tunes, along with more he wrote upon his return to Perth, form the basis of his excellent solo album, Burning Boy, released 25 May through Dot Dash/Remote Control. McKee has spent the past month road-testing the tunes on a co-headline tour with Ben Salter, known to local fans as a member of country rock collective The Gin Club, self-confessed “nerdcore” outfit Giants Of Science and bluegrass supergroup Wilson Pickers. Salter released his own debut solo album, The Cat, last year, and up and moved from Brisbane to Melbourne. He takes off for Europe late May, but swings past Pure Pop on Sunday for an intimate farewell show. The pair also play the Gasometer – the gig has moved from initial venue the Grace Darling – with support from another frontman gone solo, Deloris's Marcus Teague, aka Single Twin, this Saturday.
