“There’ll be nothing about cancer in this year’s fucking show,” vows Des Bishop

More Des Bishop More Des Bishop

This time last year, Irish-American comedian Des Bishop lost his father Mike to lung cancer in the middle of touring a show called My Dad Was Nearly James Bond, based on his dad's acting career. A testicular cancer survivor himself, Bishop bravely continued touring the show and it turned into a beautiful memorial for Mike. “There'll be nothing about cancer in this year's fucking show,” vows Bishop. “That's one of my promises to myself. I've had enough of that fucking shit. I just want to do a silly, fun show and have a laugh. It was great that people loved the last show, but I'm so fucking over it. I want to just talk about period sex and stuff like that!” Hence Des Bishop Likes To Bang, based his quest to learn to play drums. “I'm not going to be banging members of the audience – in case any exhibitionist sex nuts are going to be turning up. And as far as learning a skill, this time I'm going to learn the skill of being funny. Just joking about whatever, like everybody else does, without trying to tackle any big issues. I fucking love going to Australia. But all those Etihad flights I take there – there's so much Arabic on my tax return the fucking FBI are looking into me.”
