"There would be fights, like disagreements on how to handle it; suspicion, intrigue, drama – it was hell on earth.”

Soundwave is finally upon us, so who do you see while you're waiting for Metallica?

“I like sort of taking it easy for a second. I mean, we’ve been touring pretty extensively and releasing music pretty steadily for the past five years, and it’s been great, but it’s kind of nice to say, ‘Let’s chill out for a little bit’."

"Even the guys from Metallica invited us to play their festival last summer – it turned out that they were big fans, that was pretty random. It goes to show that it takes all kinds!”

"We have one where we did something on the road that we put together that’s new [and] may surface, but at the moment there’s nothing concrete as far as another record.”

“It’s going to sound exactly like the record because that’s something we really want to do on this cycle, make sure that fans can hear everything they can hear on the record…"

“I think maybe it’s a little of people seeing it and hearing it, and don’t know what to make of it, because it’s not the kind of dumbed-down thing they’re used to, and it challenges them a little."
“Playing Soundwave means that we’ll have the chance to reach so many people who have never heard the band before."

“You really have to know the right people and write the correct song – a lot of things. We were just lucky enough to be there at that time and be able to do that. We’re definitely lucky dudes.”

“I’m yet to see anything new that’s like a threat; not even a threat, like the next suitor to the throne."

“We are writing it right now and we have a bunch of great demos going so far. Once we have enough material to piece together our concept record, then we’ll go and record it."

"I was into Australian bands like The Saints, starting back then, your [Radio] Birdman, Rose Tattoo, of course, The Angels and AC/DC, of course. So getting down there was kinda gettin’ down to hallowed ground for me."

I have figured out the perfect Soundwave timetable.

"Being on the road is a crazy lifestyle dude, it will drive you insane and will make you think crazy things…"

“I’m definitely going to be seeing Metallica. You know, some cities you just fly in and fly out and you don’t get a chance to see anything. But as a guy who grew up in the ‘90s, seeing Metallica is something I have to do."

“My aim was specifically to write music together and not apart, because for Neighborhoods we weren’t together at all – we just weren’t even really talking."

“Hardcore in general is a very energetic and interactive style of music so of course the live shows are very important – perhaps more so than in other styles of music."

“It’s always been music, the one common theme that ties us all together. So when you have that love affair and there’s this symmetry that happens between the four of us when we play."

"I think what’s really important is taking what you learn, but then also applying it to yourself. Not completely emulating what those people do, but applying your favourite aspects to what is it that makes you unique as a writer."

"A lot of people will say, you know, ‘Forget that tour, forget that tour’, and just concentrate on their own territory, but we want to be a worldwide band… and you’ve got nice beer as well,"
