What kind of courses do you offer? Collarts offer Bachelor Degrees in Music Performance, Audio Production, and Entertainment Management. Our students are working towards careers as musicians, songwriters, music producers, audio engineers, live sound technicians, artist managers, publicists, festival and event managers.

Do you offer practical on-site learning or more of a theoretical base? Our teaching style is hands-on, collaborative and practical. As well as having specific industry-focused units, our music, audio, and management students work together on projects that simulate the working music industry and provide you with a portfolio or real work. For example, you will record, produce and distribute EPs, run live music events and create music videos as part of your course work.

What makes you different to other universities? One of the key reasons students come to Collarts is because of the creative energy and passionate vibe of the people and the campus. We are a community who work together and immerse ourselves in everything music. We focus on small class sizes that are taught in state-of-the-art facilities, by working industry professionals. This means students learn from teachers who are ARIA Award winners, teachers who are touring the country, teachers who run their own recording studios and teachers who work with some of Australia’s best music talent as publicists and artist managers.

We have a vast network of industry connections – such as our partnership with St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, which allows our students to gain exclusive, backstage work experience. We also partner with Melbourne’s premier music panellist event, STEP (Society of Tastemakers & Industry People), Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and Face The Music. We hold exclusive workshops for our students with musicians like Nick Murphy (aka Chet Faker), Nai Palm (Hiatus Kaiyote) and Graeme Park (Hacienda DJ) to name a few.

Do you offer job opportunities, internships, or other ways to help students get ahead? We offer various work experience opportunities to students throughout their studies, such as exclusive backstage experience at music festivals, recording studios, labels and event management companies. Our students also undertake compulsory work placements at places like triple j, Strawberry Fields Music Festival, Remote Control Records and Paradise Music Festival.
