Whether you ride your bike a little, a lot, or even not at all, there will be something for you at this year’s Sydney Rides Festival, running from 11 – 25 Oct. With people from all walks of the city being brought together to celebrate the bicycle, The Music picks out ten events that’ll really get your wheels spinning.

Hugely successful last year, Cycle-O-Rama will return with an exhibition of vintage and modern bicycles, paintings, drawings and historic photography, as well as a swap meet and market, and a launch party featuring DJs Mia Paris and Veren Grigorov. See website for times and prices.

Sydney Rides The Night brings everyone together with a nighttime ride and beautiful festival-closing celebration. The aptly named E-Bike Fest will be a fun-filled day of electric bike activities. There’ll be opportunities to try an e-bike, win prizes and take part in the bicycle rally finale, or you can just pack a hamper and participate in the e-bike and cargo bike picnic at midday.

An incredible exhibition of bike-inspired art, Freedom (if you want it), will be held at Newtown Library throughout the festival. A series of bike- and Sydney-inspired paintings, Surry Hills artist Guy James Whitworth uses his creativity to promote tolerance between different communities.
