"An open-plan kitchen, recycled wood and touches of copper and zinc, and of course lots of natural light..."

The newest kid on the beach is here: Drake Eatery.

It's the first restaurant from Sydney chef Ian Oakes (former Head Chef at single Chef's Hat restaurant The Grand National) and it focuses on seasonal, locally sourced, sustainable produce. The space has been designed by ACME & CO (The Grounds Of Alexandria, The Incinerator, Archie Rose) and features an open-plan kitchen, recycled wood and touches of copper and zinc, and of course lots of natural light to create a relaxed dining environment for any time of the day. Expect items like team-smoked ocean trout with celeriac, sorrel and liquorice; thyme gnocchi; pan-roasted blue eye cod; and roasted half Thirlmere duck with cipollini onion, carrot and gingerbread on the menu. For something sweet after, there's white chocolate and honeycomb parfait with salted caramel, and ricotta doughnuts served with creme fraiche and lemon curd. Wash it down with some coffee from Toby's Estate, or perhaps a glass of wine.

Drake Eatery's currently open for lunch and dinner, with breakfast coming soon.
