BAR SIDE

With links to Melbourne’s founders, heroes and drinkers, Young And Jackson has been one of Melbourne’s  pubs of choice since 1861.

With so much history that it could be taught in schools, and located in the heart of Melbourne, the heritage icon epitomises pub grub with classic fare such as mini-burgers, chicken parmas and the good old steak sandwich. And for those who might be after a bit more flair, the casual dining restaurant upstairs provides a more modern experience with their tomato and maple syrup-glazed pork loins and special grilled Atlantic salmon. NYE punters can expect a ticketed five-course degustation dinner for $160 and a cocktail-style event for $110.

There is plenty to drink at Young And Jackson too. While there are 28 beers on tap throughout the hotel, the real summer attraction lies above the city pub façade in their Rooftop Cider Bar. Quirky and unexpected, with a grass floor and vertical garden, this hidden gem is the perfect space to settle in for an afternoon of relaxed socialising. There are seven unique ciders on tap while their summer cider spiders, slushies and sangrias always prove to be a big hit.
