BAR SIDE

Being one of Brisbane’s longest standing icons, built in 1864, The Plough Inn gives patrons beautiful summer views of the Brisbane River, city skyline and Southbank Parklands from the shady open air beer garden.

This heritage-listed building comprises The Beer Garden, with live music seven days a week, the inside Sports Bar with air-con for those hot days and large screens for all of your sporting needs, The Lounge area which is used for lounging (of course) and functions, while the upstairs deck area provides stellar views across the Parklands and Brisbane city. The newest addition to the pub is the upstairs 18+ Arbour Bar, with specialty cocktails and top shelf wines; this area also doubles as the main function room with amazing views.

Executive chef Ben Wrigley brings years of experience in providing traditional pub meals as well as modern Australian cuisine. In The Beer Garden there are snack options from share boards to burgers and the Fat Yak Beer Battered Barramundi. House specialities include The Plough Inn Drunken Steak (a flame grilled steak marinated in a stout for 24 hours), the Redback wheat beer-infused 1kg pot of mussels, house smoked pork ribs and not to forget their amazing steaks, so prioritise those if you're tossing up between options!

For something lighter, there are a range of salads, pies and seafood options available. Another stand out is the Sizzling Chicken, Lime and Chilli Fajita: a Mexican sizzling plate with chicken, bell peppers and red onion served in grilled tortillas, with sour cream, house made salsa, guacamole and salad.

To drink, there are 44 icy cold beers on tap, just in case you wanted that many choices, and for summer, we suggest you try a pint of Peroni, Dirty Granny apple cider or a Matilda Bay craft beer. Treasury wines are also heavily featured, with some favourites including the Squealing Pigs Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris, or the Pepper Jack Shiraz.

FUN FACT

The Plough Inn celebrates 150 years of existence this year, luckily surviving every major flood in that time to be the watering hole of choice for locals. Members of the Australian Rugby League Team, the Brisbane Lions and numerous Australian cricketers all frequent the Plough.
