BAR SIDE

Operating as a pub since 1871 and as a live music venue since the 1940s, Richmond’s iconic Corner Hotel has a long history as part of the Melbourne pub scene.

While it is well known for its large band room which has housed countless local and international acts over the years, the Corner’s Rooftop Beer Garden is an underrated summer attraction. Large bi-fold glass doors open the indoor space to the outdoors to create a huge sun-kissed seated area, making it perfect for those heading downstairs for a gig, to sporting events and arena shows down the road, or anyone who just wants some decent pub grub to enjoy.  It’s almost too east to sit back at the Corner this summer with a cold pint of beer or a large jugs of Pimms with fresh fruit and mint amongst the beer garden’s sun, views of the city and greenery.

Under new head chef Shannon Ryce, the freshest and best seasonal produce will be served to customers this summer. The fresh fish of the day is a perfect addition to the rotating lunch and dinner specials, while the roast beetroot and asparagus salad and spring lamb salad with tabouli provides the menu with further refinement. With a wine list that complements the menu and the mighty CUB beers and Mountain Goat favourites Steam Ale and Hightail Ale on tap, you’re laughing.
