Raw Comedy National Final

Angus Gordon is the "rightfully awarded winner."

After countless Raw Comedy heats across the county, 1,227 young comedic contestants are narrowed down to 12.

Each offering different styles and delivery, ranging from exuberant storytelling, quirky word play and political satire to deadpan one-liners, there are a handful of clear standouts that could easily be crowned victor, but tonight, as the saying goes, there can only be one.

If comedy exists to challenge the status quo then Cory John Rist is in the right industry. His dark, often morbid style divides the audience but that doesn’t deter the Western Australian, as he never breaks from character. Rohan Ganju is a personal standout. He jokes about using his best material at the start and end of his short set, but truly the laughs never subside as he consistently spits out rapid fire one liners.

In a similar vain to previous Raw Comedy finalists Sam Simmons and Ronny Cheng, Angus Gordon (pictured) offers an alternative take on comedy. Rightfully awarded winner, the Queenslander who has his own Comedy Festival show, Gold Jacket Comedy, alongside Aaron Gocs, already has a bright future in Australia and can now boast the world with his prize being a performance at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.
