Fringe: Hold Close

2 October 2014 | 11:54 am | Annelise Ball

Hold Close tells the star-crossed love story of the elements Fire and Water in a moving and ethereal circus performance. With soft green lighting, smoke effects and a striking electro-ambient soundtrack; the performance space exudes an enchanting forest-like magic. Fire and Water first recoil from each other, then dance beautifully in a flowing combination of floor acrobatics and stunning aerial movements using ropes and hoops. Quirky characters including a green-cloaked lantern bearer, veiled nymphs and creature with his bottom wedged in a box add extra mystery to the story. Elegant and compelling, Hold Close is beautiful contemporary circus to behold.

Gasworks – The Big House, Melbourne Fringe Festival, to 4 Oct.
