A 40 minute film has been released online, made by Young's alter-ego Bernard Shakey.

More Neil Young More Neil Young

Not the kinda guy to do things by halves, Neil Young has released a short film as a companion piece to his latest album with Crazy Horse, Americana.

The film, credited to Young's alter-ego Bernard Shakey, goes for around 40 minutes and is shot in the classic silent-film style featuring Young himself playing an author who visits a gallery in search of illustrations about classic American songs.

It all ties together quite nicely as plenty of the music from the new record features, a record which features Young and his Crazy Horse mob musically ruminating over a whole bunch of classic old American songs.

This is far from the first time Young has made films under the Shakey name, with Journey Through the Past, the Rust Never Sleeps live film, Human Highway, Greendale and CSNY/Déjà Vu all films he's released since 1972.
